Jai Malhari Devi...

Its heavy rain and we folks went for the trekking  i.e. myself, Mr Bhagwat, Mr. Bodas and  Mr.Kulkarni wonderfull people  with having cracking jokes on each others. Almost we reach Velha taluka. From Velha Soneri fort is 5 km.
The fort was named for the god Malhari and was the last fort built by the Marathas, about 1775. It is also known as Soneri Fort due to the village of Soneri being situated at its base. Malhargad is a hill fort in western India near Saswad i.e. in PUNE Dist., 30 kilometres from Pune.
The fort was built during the epoch of 1757 to 1760. The fort was built by Bhivrao Yashwant and Krishnaji Madhavrao Panse, a Peshwa Sardar, who was the chief in charge of Tofkhana of the Peshwas. Certifications of a visit of Elder Madhavrao Peshwe to the fort are available in historic travel permit. A fort, belonging to Panse, can be seen in the Soneri village though much of it is in residue.

The fort is in excellent condition. There are two temples constructed side-by-side: the smaller for Lord Khandoba and the larger for Lord Mahadeva. From the top of this fort, the city of Jejuri and Parvati hills can be seen. The forts of Sinhagad, Purandar, and Vajragad are also visible The Sahyadri range to the west of Pune in Velha taluka is split, and the forts Rajgad and Torna are on one branch while Forts Sinhagad, Purandar, Vajragad and Malhargad on the other.
This series is known as the Bhuleshwar range which is spread along the East-West direction. The fort is alleged to be built to keep watch on ‘Dive’ ghat along the Pune-Saswad forward. Malhargad is a small fort and can be seen completely in 1 min to 1 hour-45min.
