TrikonaGad

About Tikona fort I have heard from my friend and just I told him next time if you visit please let me know also. After my completing exam of MACJ part one.Mr. Godbole called me at 10pm on month of November. He said after a week we are going to visit Tikona fort. Would you like to join with us? I was like OHH...YES I want to be...so next I went at Pune from there they have bike to pick me up and we headed to tikona.
In 1660, Netaji Palkar was charged with ensuring the security of fort Tikona. The fort is a trekking destination noted for the large doors, the temple of 'Trimbakeshwar Mahadev', a water tank and some Satvahan caves. Trek organisers also commend the views of Pawna dam and the nearby forts of Tung, Lohagad and Visapur. The steps of the fort were too much slippery. And both side of the wall was algae. This fort was a strategic nexus: the centre of control for the entire Pawana Mawal region.
Tikona (also known as Vitandgad) is the dominant hill fort in Maval in western India. It is located near Kamshet around 60 km from Pune The village nearest the fort is called Tikona-Peth. The high hill is pyramidal in shape and the name Tikona or Trikon means "triangle".
There are two ways to climb on the fort. One easy long way. And other short but dangerous in rainy seasons. We followed the shortest path. At one stage where path was so much slippery that we have decided not to climb but finally we climbed. And it was a contentment and reachable target.
It is traingular in shape. A small but enriched with nature, especially in monsoon. The road is very small in some places. Steps carved in stones. Many caves on the top of the fort. On the top there is one carved lake, the water is very cold and in flavour is sweet. A temple of Shiva is there with no roofs. You can see Pawanaa Dam, Tung For from the top of the Fort. If the atmosphere is clean you can see Sinhgad and Rajgad also from here. You can see Pen also from this fort.
