After the trekking of harishchandragadh our next trekking is at dhaak
cha bhairi. Dhaak cha bhairi is near kamshet border of riagad and pune. Dhak Bahiri caves are situated at
about 50 kms from Pune. One needs to get down at the Kamshet railway
station and proceed to a Jambahvli village by bus. After the reaching at pune station there is one my friend came to
receive me. Now our travelling is started towards Kamshet. It’s a wonderful
experience travelling on bike with high-speed. We went between june-july, every
were you can see full of greenery farms, trees, etc.
Trekking had always been passion
of Mr. Godbole. I also have interest for trekking but so much once he called me
and said we are going for trekking. They had organized a trek to ‘Dhak Bahiri’
caves which I was precisely looking for. I had heard from a few friends and the
colleagues at my company that the trek to dhak bahiri was one of the toughest
treks in the sahyadris. I was a bit worried as I didn’t have any experience of
‘Technical’ treks (with ropes and other equipments). My previous experience was
magnificent at harishchnadrgadh
The mood in the camp was upbeat.
They all started singing and cracking jokes and I realized that it was going to
be fun with these guys. We got down at jambhavli after about half an hour of a
journey. The first step was the introduction and instruction round. The
instructions about how to go for the trek and the safety precautions needed. We
started our trek with Shekhar bhauji cracking jokes. He has got some real sense
of humour I must say!
We trekked for about one and a
half hour until we reached a small ridge. We trekked for about one and a half
hour until we reached a small ridge. We decided to take a short ‘rest halt’ at
this point. The view from up there was amazing! The real fun started from here. We carefully started to descend the
ridge. Prathamesh and Chetan guided us through the patch. When we reached the
base of the ridge, we all were fascinated by the beauty of nature!
We clicked some real good photos
there. While going you can enjoy many waterfalls and have fun. You can also see
'Dukes Nose' which is near Khandala. First 1 Hour is just walking and nothing
difficult. After which crossing a valley, walking with the help of rope and
wood is really wonderfull and thrilling. On the top there is one big cave in
whihc 20 people can easily accommodate. There is also small tank in which water
is always there. And beside that tank there is a temple of Bhairav.
Chetan and Prathamesh told us
that each one of us would require at least about 20 mins to climb the 25 feet
wall to reach the caves. We started to move from there carefully towards the
base of the wall. The ropes put up in the wall helped us to see through the
horizontal patch with no real difficulty. After walking long distance we reach
at valley. While normally standing we saw the valleys so dangerous, but
crossing that valley it’s having great fun. Next level is very dangerous were
70 degree wall with no patches there is only one metal rope that we have to
hold and move towards the next point. After that 90 degree wall and there a
wooden big stand along with rope…which means we have to move upwards and while
holding that rope. After 20miniutes we reach at the peak of temple i.e. Bhairi
temple
After everyone had climbed down
the rock patch, were started clicking pictures, such as group pictures greenery
picture, etc. At 4p.m.we started trekking down we walked for about an hour and
reached the base village Dhak. After accomplishment there is an old mahadev’s
temple near that having a pond of water we all four were halt there and started
swimming there. Its cold water coming from the mountains and force of water is
so strong. As m standing in that water it pushes me slightly, so you people can
imagine how it is.
It was about 6.15 and the sun was
setting down. So we quickly started walking again towards Pune station. The
experience after that was one of the best that I have ever had. Walking through
the dense jungle with no torch was amazing! Myself, prathamesh and Mayursh
tried to scare Shekhar bhauji by speaking about ghosts and that kept us upbeat.
The base is just 10 mins ahead every time we asked and in its expectation we
would continue our walk. Finally at about 9 we reached the Pune railway
station.
This was
one of the best treks that I had been to and got the opportunity to interact as
well as make some real good friends!
